1994 was an exceptional year for the 10th anniversary of my CRX. That year, I had made many modifications to the car. By the end of the summer, the car looked immortal.
The exhaust system and brakes were improved. A special glass- pack-style muffler replaced the OEM muffler and gave the car a throaty growl that roared at high speeds and gave the car a small horsepower boost by freeing up the airflow. The brakes were replaced with discs and drums from the higher end CRX, the Si.
The greatest improvisations to the car came in the electrical system. Contained under the dash were three CB radios, a scanner, a 60 watt amp, a ultrasonic ranging system, two radar detectors, a detector jammer, a state police car siren outfit, a home-built wig-wag system, front, rear, and side auxillary lights, and a personally-designed control panel to distribute the electrical power to the places that needed it most. The car looked like a Christmas tree inside at night, if not on the outside as well. The siren unit had a painfully loud horn and an equally loud PA system. I'm not a fire-fighter or a police officer, just an electrical engineering student.
On the exterior of the car, a few details were added to make the car look extra sharp. Custom painted wheel covers and two-tone mud flaps gave the car a roadster look. The auxillary lights gave it an off-road vehicle look (which the car certainly adapted well to once the front spoiler came off.)Take me:
