Remember Carlos, the guy who rammed my old car and got away with it? The best "revenge" came one day when I was driving back up to school one morning. I was zipping along the highway, when I came up behind his car. I remembered the license plate... sure enough, Carlos was driving. I pulled up alongside and waved hello.
The look on his face as he saw what appeared to be my old destroyed car looking better than before was golden. I am certain he thought my '86 was the '84 he totalled. His look completely conveyed that impression. I even smiled at him. I passed him and left him far behind me.
The story continues with a heart-breaking oil system failure, snuffing the life out of its little engine. Following that, a third CRX, a silver 1987, was purchased with 172,000 miles but the rear suspension rotted out, leaving the car non-roadworthy. Incidentally, a Honda with 178,000 miles runs just as well as my first CRX with 82,000 miles. They really DO keep coming back for more! After the third, though, it was time to move on.
